Desidera then monitors local weather data and forecasts to scan for disaster thresholds, predict floods and droughts, and warn against oncoming threats in real time. Meet the ANT: Anticipatory Action, Automated
Early warning is only useful if it leads to action. The ANT is GreenAnt's flagship product, powered by Desidera's disaster threshold capability. It connects Desidera’s forecasted flood or drought thresholds directly to predetermined funds from a 3rd-party financial service provider. When the rainfall thresholds that cause floods or droughts on your land are forecasted, the ANT automatically triggers a payout before the water rises or the land dries.
The ANT is packaged as either an anticipatory parametric insurance product or a forecast-based weather derivative. Its pre-disaster payouts fund activities to reduce damage and disruption. As such, it can serve as either a replacement or a complement to your organization's current, reactive insurance policies that compensate for disaster-driven losses. It may lower the premiums on those policies by reducing the likelihood that extreme losses are sustained.
