Risk & Resilience

GreenAnt CEO Mario Simmaco pitches

A word from our founder, Mario

GreenAnt CEO Mario Simmaco

Dear Friends,

As February unfolds, I'm excited to share updates on GreenAnt's expanding impact. The momentum from our December engagements has translated into tangible progress across multiple sectors and geographies.

This month brings particularly encouraging developments. GreenAnt received a substantial grant from the South Holland regional government to conduct an expansive pilot supporting sustainable cacao farmers in Latin America and Africa, partnering with Netherlands-based Gaia Cacao. We're grateful for recognition from Dutch Startup AI, whose feature highlighted what distinguishes our approach: physics-based analysis, dynamic thresholds, and microspatial precision delivering actionable intelligence rather than abstract probabilities.

Most gratifying is news from Southeast Asia, where our humanitarian pilot proved so effective that the partner organization expanded the program's geographical scope more than tenfold. This validation confirms that AI-enhanced satellite radar-based early warning can deliver measurable protection to vulnerable communities at scale.

These developments reflect our core mission: transforming climate risk analysis from reactive assessment to proactive protection.

Thank you for being part of this journey toward a more resilient future.

Warm regards,

Mario Edoardo Simmaco

What has GreenAnt been up to recently?

  • After a competitive selection process, GreenAnt was chosen to receive a 187,000 EUR stipend from the South Holland regional government to conduct an expansive pilot project to support sustainable cacao farmers in Latin America and Africa in partnership with Netherlands-basedGaia Cacao, an international trade and development company and a leader in the premium cacao sector. We’ll be kicking off the pilot in the coming year!

  • GreenAnt was honored to be featured in online publication Dutch Startup AI! The article conveys some of the critical differences between our approach and those of other companies, including our physics-based analysis that is calibrated to actual terrain, soil properties, and climate conditions, as well as Desidera’s ability to calculate dynamic risk thresholds that adapt as conditions evolve. Desidera quantifies exactly how much precipitation causes flooding at microspatial resolution. Our clients don’t need to struggle to interpret risk scores or probability ranges. With GreenAnt they get actionable thresholds that enable automated intervention before disasters strike.

  • Finally, we’re celebrating the successful conclusion of the pilot project we conducted last year for a humanitarian aid NGO in a Southeast Asian country that we are not yet at liberty to disclose. The findings and assessment proved an impact so encouraging that the NGO has seen fit to expand the geographical scope more than tenfold! This win marks yet another vital validation of our Desidera climate risk and analysis platform, and broadens the base of communities that will enjoy the advantages of AI-enhanced satellite radar-based early warning for flooding offered exclusively by GreenAnt today.
